A large e-commerce retailer was experiencing higher-than-average payment failure rates at checkout and noticed substantial variations in transaction processing costs across different geographic regions and payment methods. They lacked the centralized data and tools needed to understand why legitimate transactions were failing and where money was being wasted on inefficient routing.
The Solution
We implemented a Payment Analytics & Optimization strategy focused on three key areas:
- Smart Retries: Instituted an intelligent retry logic for soft-declined transactions, automatically resubmitting them via a secondary processor.
- Unified Data Collection: Consolidated all transaction data (success/failure codes, processor latency, interchange fees) into a single, intelligent dashboard.
- AI-Driven Routing: Used machine learning models to dynamically route each transaction in real-time to the payment processor with the highest historical success rate and lowest cost for that specific customer, card type, and region.
